My wife and I spent 6 weeks in India this spring. We have traveled throughout India on many occasions and this trip spent a month in Kashmir. Our month was arranged through RBS Travels in Delhi as they have made many of our arrangements in the past and we have always been extremely pleased. We arranged for a vehicle and driver to travel overland to Srinigar and beyond to get the better feel of the wonderful countryside. We arrived in Srinigar and were delighted with the location and beauty of the Hotel Akbar. It is located at the main entrance into Dal Lake with immediate access to the local watercraft and transportation around town. Upon entering the hotel grounds, the stunning gardens with walkways covered with a canopy of roses are all around you. Breakfast and lunch in the garden is a special pleasure to enjoy while in town. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with cable TV and with everything that you would expect in a very good hotel. All of the food from the restaurant was very good with some buffet and also an a la carte menu. As I mentioned, breakfast in the gardens with the blooming roses was spectacular. The staff can arrange just about any trip you would desire around Kashmir, they arranged the overland trip for my wife and I through Kargil. So I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, beautiful setting and gardens and most especially for the well trained and most attentive staff who will willingly take care of all your needs
