It was a dream come true holiday with Hotel Akbar & Zaffer Houseboats. We had 4 nights - 5days package , in which we stayed 2 nights at Houseboat & 2 nights at Hotel,which we booked from their Delhi office. Food was excellent & the service was to the mark, We will highly recommend Hotel Akbar & Zaffer Houseboats to our friends.

The experiance at Hotel Akbar Residency was great. Good food, Good ambiance, Kind and friendly staff. Its worth the money spend and is value for money.

After several months of travel and treking in the himalayas my husband and I booked a trip to Srinigar. We were delighted to find Hotel Akbar as it is family owned/run, has a very friendly staff, can arrange activities and/or travel and the chef turns out some amazing dishes. In need of some rest we extended our stay and spent time relaxing in the garden and fishing in the mountains. Mr. Habib (the owner) arranged a boat ride to one of their houseboats where met two of his sons and enjoyed tea on a beautiful afternoon with a spectacular view of the mountains. Before leaving Srinigar they booked our next three weeks touring northern India. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again.

My wife and I spent 6 weeks in India this spring. We have traveled throughout India on many occasions and this trip spent a month in Kashmir. Our month was arranged through RBS Travels in Delhi as they have made many of our arrangements in the past and we have always been extremely pleased. We arranged for a vehicle and driver to travel overland to Srinigar and beyond to get the better feel of the wonderful countryside.
We arrived in Srinigar and were delighted with the location and beauty of the Hotel Akbar. It is located at the main entrance into Dal Lake with immediate access to the local watercraft and transportation around town.
Upon entering the hotel grounds, the stunning gardens with walkways covered with a canopy of roses are all around you. Breakfast and lunch in the garden is a special pleasure to enjoy while in town. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with cable TV and with everything that you would expect in a very good hotel. All of the food from the restaurant was very good with some buffet and also an a la carte menu. As I mentioned, breakfast in the gardens with the blooming roses was spectacular.
The staff can arrange just about any trip you would desire around Kashmir, they arranged the overland trip for my wife and I through Kargil.
So I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, beautiful setting and gardens and most especially for the well trained and most attentive staff who will willingly take care of all your needs
